Finding Your Own Personal Joy

We all spend a lot of time chasing success — bigger goals, bigger numbers, bigger milestones. But real fulfillment doesn’t always come from what looks impressive on paper. It comes from finding the thing that genuinely lights you up.

For me, that thing was the hospitality world.

There’s something powerful about creating a space where people can walk in stressed, distracted, or exhausted — and within minutes, they’re smiling. Maybe it’s the first sip of a margarita. Maybe it’s the smell of slow-smoked barbecue hitting the table. Maybe it’s laughter echoing from a group of friends who decided to celebrate something — or nothing at all. Hospitality delivers instant joy, and I get to witness it every single day.

I didn’t choose this industry just because it’s food and drinks. I chose it because it’s about connection. It’s about service. It’s about turning ordinary Tuesdays into small celebrations. There’s an immediate feedback loop in hospitality: you can see happiness happen in real time. That matters to me.

Finding your personal joy isn’t about copying someone else’s path. It’s about noticing what makes you feel energized instead of drained. What makes you lose track of time in the best way. What gives you a sense of purpose when you lay your head down at night.

For some, it’s art. For others, it’s building things, teaching, designing, fixing, creating. For me, it’s watching a room come alive — seeing people instantly happy because of something we built.

That’s joy. And when you find yours, everything else starts to make a little more sense.
